We welcome everyone... Statistics
verify that only slightly over 1/2 of all Americans have some type of reimbursement or benefit plan to help
pay for their dental services. One question that we are commonly asked is " Do you
accept my insurance plan?" The
answer is very simple. As a continued service to our patients, we will always extend the additional
courtesy of filing claims on your behalf to any benefit plan... promptly, and free of charge. Because of the myriad
of the many plans that patients and employers have, we must rely on you to be familiar with your plan and some
basic information about your particular coverage. In their effort to cut corners or offer a "bargain", some insurance carriers may restrict
the treatment options offered to their insureds. Or they may restrict or even deny payment to a "non-participating"
dentist. Then they "encourage" their customers to select from their list of dentists that the
insurer has "carefully selected" - usually on the basis of a dentist's agreement to discount
fees and make up the difference in patient volume.
Would
anyone ever really want to be provided for with less than the optimal treatment plan and materials, in less than the cleanest,
most caring enviornment...? Please be assured that we
welcome all patients, with or without insurance, and our diagnosis and treatment plan for you is
never determined or resricted on the basis of whether or not you are "covered by a plan". Sometimes there are different ways that your teeth can be treated - we'll explore your particular case, and
help you to understand your possible treatment options. We always offer our patients
three different methods of payment from which to choose, and your choice from these options will
be up to you, once we have together determined the proper course of treatment for you. Our
ladies here in the office will gladly review these options with you prior to your treatment.
We hear so much in the media about "No Prep Veneers"
. They are touted as the solution for everything, according to the many of the advertisements that we see
and hear every day. No shots! No Drills! Painless! They are said to be the most "conservative"
way to treat spaces between your teeth, such as these in our 20 year old young patient. The truth is that no-prep veneers
are not new, and along with traditional veneers, both can be a very wonderful answer in some cases, as you will see elsewhere
on our website.
But
how much more conservative can you get than these results that we were able to achieve below with careful, meticulous
light-activated bonding for our patient? Achieving
the results that are pictured below required about two hours of painless, no-shot chairtime for our patient.
We sanded the corners of her teeth very, very lightly, and then we added multiple, thin layers of bonding onto the sides
of her four front teeth. Unlike veneers, which cover the entire front and side surfaces of the teeth, we added only
to the sides of the teeth, thereby completely maintaining her natural enamel on the front, rather than covering it with man-made
porcelain.
And so here is our patient, immediately after her case was
completed with bonding. We have closed all of the spaces,
without tooth reduction, without the need for impressions, and without the waiting period needed for veneer fabrication
(which is typically about two to four weeks in many other offices) between appointments. We are grateful to all of our patients for their trust and confidence in our recommendations.
Remember, all of the photographs that you see are of fellow patients, treated right here in our office, and all photographs
are actual and untouched.
There really are not too many things that a patient can do to a tooth nowadays that
we can't come up with a way to fix... IF the tooth has a good foundation
of gum and bone around it. And so the maintainence of the gum and bone, and the prevention
of gum and bone problems is of paramount importance here in our office. We are speaking about periodontal disease, which is a chronic bacterial inflammation
and infection of the gum and the tissues which surround and support your teeth. Periodontal disease is caused by bacterial
plaque, which is constantly forming on your teeth. Plaque can harden into tartar, and both of these produce toxins which irritate
the gums and initiate breakdown and the loss of the fibers which support the teeth in your jawbone. There can be many factors, such as genetics and your immune system, diseases
like diabetes, tobacco use, and medications that can also contribute to a patient's susceptibility to gum disease. And
gum disease has several stages, from early minor irritation all the way up to bone loss which is so severe that teeth can actually
fall out! Also, there is a very real link between gum disease
and the overall health of your body and heart. But
of all of the factors involved, the one factor that is best under your control is how clean you keep your teeth and gums on a day-to-day basis. Patients can remove plaque when it is soft, with careful brushing and flossing. But when plaque advances to the hardened, tartar stage,
brushing and flossing alone can't remove it. That's
why as simple as it sounds, regular preventive visits here in our office are extremely important in minimizing the damage
from periodontal disease.
We'd
love to hear from you... Or
perhaps a friend or loved one needs our help or expertise. Most all of our new patients are personal referrals... We'll do our best to help them
!
